It is the desire of every homeowner to create a home with a décor that fits his or her taste. Choosing the accents that help this dream come true is often harder than it sounds. I have been a buyer for five different stores in my career and have seen many mistakes made when choosing what I call anchor accents in home decorating. Make a good choice like a decorative wall clock as your anchor accent and everything falls into place.

There are many styles and sizes of wall clocks. Clocks for your wall are usually organized into specific categories. These categories are usually setup to help the consumer find a clock for a specific room. An example category would be kitchen wall clocks. Many times the categories are helpful but decorators often use different clocks in different rooms of the home depending on taste. In other words there are no rules.

Many clocks we see in this category have floral or plant designs. Herbs and flowers seem to be real popular but some stores do sell many smaller pendulum wall clocks that are plain and simple. Great Room or Living Room Wall Clocks

This area of the home is the most popular with decorators. Oversized wall clocks are often used on a large wall to provide that anchor accent to decorate around. In contemporary settings, contemporary wall clocks and retro styles are favorites. The starburst style of the retro wall clock has become very popular with the younger crowd. The modern wall clock has seemed to merge with the contemporary style of décor.

Children’s Room – Wall Clock for your child

Just a good old fashion kid room is what we are talking about. Nursery rhyme clock faces or cartoon faces are favorites for this room. Kids like the pendulum wall clock because the long pendulum swings. I really think it puts them to sleep as they watch it. Timeworks Inc. has a nice line of children’s clocks. Most of their clocks have a swinging pendulum and old world charm.

Buying a wall clock is really not too hard. Don’t be too selective about the colors. A slightly different color mixed with like colors on your wall will not usually be noticed. Remember, bright colors or a big contrast in color adds to the appeal for most people.
